Bruce A. Price
1947 - 2012

Bruce A. Price passed away in his family's embrace on Friday, May 11, 2012 at his home. He was born July 2, 1947, the son of George and Phylis Fowkes Price.

Bruce graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1965, the school he loved and supported his entire life, where he served eight years as a Board Member and was a motivated Booster Club and Alumni organizer. He volunteered in the classroom preparing youth in business and economics thru Junior Achievement.

Bruce was employed by the Santa Fe Railway as an Auditor and Supervisor in the Accounting Dept. In 1982, he went to work for Penn Mutual Insurance Co. In 1987, he became General Agent for American United Life Insurance Co., forming Bruce Price Agency. In 1998, Bruce Price and Associates was formed.

He served as President of the National Assoc. of Insurance and Financial Advisors for Topeka and the State of Kansas. He was elected to the NAIFA Hall of Fame in 2002. For several years, he served on the Ronald McDonald House Board of Directors and Heights of Learning Day Care Center. When his boys were young, he coached little league baseball and enjoyed playing many years of slow pitch softball. He was an avid KU Jayhawk supporter, having season football and basketball tickets since the sixties. Bruce was a member of the Topeka Jayhawk Club and sponsored many bus road trips to see the Jayhawks play. He was a member of Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, serving in all areas.

On December 31, 1971, he married Brenda Renfro. She survives of the home. Bruce was a devoted father to his three children, Brad (Lori), Tonia (Andy) Sutton and Chad (Erica). He was the cherished grandpa of Michael, Ashley, Allison, Quinton, Christian, Carli Jo and Cameron.
Other survivors include his mother, Phylis and sister, Judy Crider of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his father, George Price and a granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Price.

A special thank you goes to the Lawrence Oncology Staff and extended family and friends who poured out their love and support through Bruce’s eight year courageous battle of prostate cancer.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Bruce will lie in state after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
