Dr. Randall J. Kresie, born on April 6, 1958, in Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. He made lasting impacts on both the medical and agricultural communities as a dedicated professional, loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Dr. Kresie began his academic journey at Kansas State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree, and later achieved his doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. His commitment to healthcare was evident throughout his career, as he established and operated the Tallgrass Surgery Center in Topeka, KS. In addition to his medical practice, he was a full-time farmer, exemplifying a unique blend of devotion to his patients and the land he cultivated.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman who traveled the world in pursuit of diverse and challenging environments. Whether trekking through remote forests or casting a line in distant waters, he found deep joy in nature’s beauty and adventure. He cherished time spent with his son, Scott, during their years of involvement in the Boy Scouts of America. In quieter moments, he found peace and happiness at the beach, where he loved to relax and take in the ocean's calm.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Field-Kresie, and their children, Scott Kresie and his wife, Taylor, and Elizabeth Dempsey and her husband, Wes. Dr. Kresie also cherished his role as a grandfather to six grandchildren: Lily, Sadie, Molly, Bailey, Randi, and Thomas, and his sister, Karen Follett, and her husband, Kevin.
Dr. Kresie was predeceased by his parents, Donald F. Kresie and Annette B. (Weissbeck) Kresie, who instilled in him values of hard work, integrity, and compassion that he carried throughout his life.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Countryside United Methodist Church, 3221 SW Burlingame Road, Topeka, KS. He will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka, KS.
