Larry "Mike" Rowland, 75, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021.

He was born October 22, 1945, in Maywood, California, the son of Henry and Thelma (McWhirter) Rowland. He graduated from El Rancho High School. After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force and was very proud of his service to the country.

Mike was employed by the Hesperia School District as a plumber for numerous years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, of Topeka.

Mike loved to fish and had quite the collection of fishing poles. He also enjoyed cooking in his spare time for family and friends. He enjoyed trying new recipes and sharing them with those he loved once he had tried them himself. Mike also had a passion for woodworking.

Larry "Mike" married Joselyn Carol Rowland on August 29, 1981 in Apple Valley, CA. She preceded him in death on October 10, 1999. Survivors include his son, Michael Kenneth Rowland; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and friend, Kenneth “Ken” Goodell. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Deanna Michelle Bair and Jeffrey Dean Rowland.

Honoring Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Services will be held at a later date at Riverside National Cemetery in California. Memorial contributions may be in Mike’s honor to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Humanitarian Fund), 3611 SW Jewell Ave, Topeka, KS 66611.
