Anna M. Pfeifer
1927 - 2021

Anna M. Pfeifer, 94, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

She was born July 12, 1927 in Raubling, Germany, the only child born to her parents, Frieda (Fiek) and Friedrich Pfeifer. Anna’s father died when she was a young child.

Anna told many stories about being a teenager during WW II especially during the bombing in Germany.

Anna became a nurse in London, England. She first worked in London and later at the Menninger Foundation in Topeka, Kansas. At Menninger she first worked as a Staff Nurse and later as the Night Supervisor of Nursing. Anna retired from the Menninger Foundation in the 1980’s. Anna then moved to Winfield, Kansas to be near friends. She relocated back to Topeka and remained there until her death.

She was baptized Catholic but led a more “Spiritual Life” as she described it, and especially loved trees and birds and visiting with her friend’s pet dogs.

Anna and her mother frequently visited both in Germany and the United States, visiting many National Parks until her mother’s death.

Honoring her request, Anna will be cremated and her ashes spread in a private location in the Mountains of Colorado, a favorite spot she visited in August every year with Kansas friends.

Anna will be remembered in private by her friends both in Kansas and Colorado in private gatherings.
Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions in Topeka is assisting with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Elara Caring Hospice, 901 NE River Rd, Topeka, KS 66616.
