She was born October 22, 1938, in Hays and raised in Menlo, Kansas, the daughter of Les and Ethel (Duffey) Burger. She graduated from Menlo Consolidated School. She then attended Business School in Hutchinson.
She loved being a mother and grandmother. She was always in a good mood. She was a family person.
She enjoyed playing Bingo on Thursdays and Sunday nights with her kids in their younger years. She loved all animals.
In Colby she worked at Daylight Doughnut, Good Samaritan, and Prairie Senior as well as sold Avon.
Survivors include a sister, Loretta Weeks; sons, Bob Cates, Walt (Lori) Cates, Mike Cates, and John (Angie) Stupka; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Jordan (Roiann), Alayna (Cory), Lauren, Jack, and Braden; great-grandchildren, Asiah, Jozzlyn, London, and Jameson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Steven Burger, husband, Edwin J. Stupka, and brother-in-law, Junior Weeks.
A Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
