Nancy was born October 15, 1960, in Topeka, the daughter of Melvin and Bertha (Hankey) Hammond. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in Effingham in 1979.
Nancy briefly worked at a restaurant in Effingham while living with her parents. She was a caregiver for her mother in Topeka.
She was a member of the Union Church in Effingham.
Survivors include sisters, Virginia (Garry) Meyer, Atchison, Karen Griffin, Sandra Hammond, Sharon (Stephen) Beck, Jeanette Hammond all of Topeka; and 13 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Nancy enjoyed listening to music, watching movies and making jewelry.
A visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Graveside inurnment services will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Effingham.
