Esther Lorraine (Wulfkuhle) Hufford, 84, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017.

Esther was born December 6, 1932, in Topeka, KS, to Harold Carl and Lela “Helene” (Walrafen) Wulfkuhle. She graduated in 1951 from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence. Esther married James Edward Hufford on March 15, 1953. She was the church secretary for South Knollwood Baptist Church for over 30 years. Esther enjoyed going to flea markets, southern gospel music, and painting. She enjoyed spending time with her church friends but above all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband; three children, Pam North, Ron (Vicki) Hufford and Brenda (Charlie) Diegel; six grandchildren, Lacey Hufford, Nick (Becky) Diegel, Maggie North, Andy (Savannah) Diegel, Chris North, and Kodie Hufford; three great-grandchildren, Naomi North, Ryker Hufford, and Evyn Diegel; two siblings, John (Fran) Wulfkuhle and Janice Lamb; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at South Knollwood Baptist Church, 1813 SW 29th Street, Topeka, KS 66611. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka.
