She grew up in Abilene and attended Abilene High School and then Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.
She worked as an Operator Manager for Southwestern Bell, was a member of their Telephone Pioneers and retired from AT&T in 1984.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, its Faith Circle and past church Treasurer. She was also a member of Kansas Alpha Chapter Delta Theta Chi and Past Electra Province President, 50 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Topeka Chapter DAR Past Regent, Life Time member of the Topeka Genealogical Society and member of other Genealogical Societies, and member of the Kansas State Historical Society. She had a passion for family history research and will be always remembered for her kind heart and wonderful smile.
Nelda married Clarence J. Sidesinger on October 10, 1948 in Abilene. Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence, sisters Helen Mettlen, Loretta Ansley, and Jane Janke as well as brothers Roland Sellers and Eldon Dean Sellers.
Nelda is survived by her sister Willie Weishaar, Abilene, KS as well as her children, Charlotte J. (Larry) Mitchell, Arcanum, OH, Scott C. (Traci) Sidesinger, Platte City, MO, Tamara S. (Tom) Truex, Shawnee, KS, Chad M. (Anita) Sidesinger, Topeka; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Nelda will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
