Tony was born June 13, 1950 in Ft. Riley, KS, the son of Manuel “Rocky” and Bette (Frost) Gomez. He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1970.
Tony married Marie Nancy Simpson in 1969. They were married for 13 years. Survivors include sons, Robert Gomez, Topeka, Damon (Amber) Gomez, Perry, Anthony (Tiffany) Stewart, Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Ethan, Colton, Brayden, Aden, Kaleb; and siblings, Robert Gomez, Russell Allen, Sally Degand, all of Topeka, and Jim Allen, Berryton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Manuel “Pebble” Gomez, Jr.
He was employed by the City of Topeka, Street Maintenance Department for 37 years, retiring in 2007.
He played softball for many teams in the Topeka area for over 40 years. He was a devoted Minnesota Vikings and Boston Red Sox fan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2016.
