Bert Langley Jr., born April 8, 1937 in rural Wabaunsee County, Kansas, to Bert and Carol Langley. He passed away October 20, 2016 in his home in Topeka, Kansas.

Bert was united in marriage July 2, 1960 to Roberta Joan (Jody) Hancock from Hoisington, Kansas. They lived in Topeka for their entire marriage. From this union they have three boys.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents Bert Langley Sr. and Carol Langley. He is survived by his wife Jody of Topeka, Kansas, sons Jeffrey and wife Lynn of Littleton, Colorado, David and wife Raquel of Newton, Kansas, and Jack and wife Kathy of Shenandoah, Iowa, and his sister, Phoebe Langley of Topeka, Kansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Janell, Sarah, Stephen, Hannah, Kelsi, Jared, and Daniel.

Bert was raised on a farm and graduated from Eskridge High School in 1955. He attended Kansas State University from 1955 to 1958. Bert left college and went to work for the Goodyear Tire Company from 1958 until 1966. From 1966 to 1970 he worked for manufacturing consultant firms. From 1971 to 1978 he sold life insurance for various companies. In the late 70’s he worked for Penn State Chemical Company and he dispatched for Stover Trucking for a brief time. In 1981 he helped form a company and began a 35 year career working as owner and technician with Village Refrigeration.

Bert appreciated his work. He strived to do a good job and do it right. He loved working with a variety of people and he enjoyed the challenges that commercial refrigeration presented him. He liked sailing, motorcycles, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, but he loved his family and the Lord Jesus Christ most of all. His greatest desire was to give Him glory and to see his family in heaven.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2016 at Town & Country Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Foster Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
