Greg was a graduate of Topeka High School. He received associate degrees from Allen County Community College and DeVry University and earned his bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management & Leadership from Friends University in 2008. He was a member of Knights of Columbus over the years and also enjoyed working with Special Olympics.
On November 1, 2008, he married Patti Dawson at First Baptist Church in Topeka.
Gregory is survived by his wife, Patti; children, Tim Young and Traci Young of Topeka, Brian Dawson of Atlanta, Georgia, Kevin Dawson of Salina, and granddaughter, Haley Roth, whom he and Patti formally adopted in 2012; sister, Peggy (Gary) Chittenden of Topeka; and grandchildren, Trenton and Dayton Corbin of Tecumseh.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two siblings, Cliff Young and Pamela Rusk.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Topeka. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Greg will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, where the family will receive guests from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
