Lily Mai Coats-Nichols

Lily Mai Coats-Nichols, 5, flew like a beautiful butterfly to the Lord’s embrace on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Lily was born on July on July 23, 2009 in Topeka, the daughter of Raven Coats and Bruce Nichols. Survivors include her parents; a sister, Katy; grandparents, Bob Coats, Bruce Nichols, Sr., and Debra Nichols, all of Topeka; Robin (Jim) Herring of Auburn as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Lily easily made friends with everyone and loved animals, singing, swimming, dancing, and fishing and yet was a girly-girl, through and through, who still loved her lip gloss and doing her hair.

Lily completed Kindergarten this past school year and was looking forward to starting First Grade. She was an energetic ball of sunshine and had a great big personality. When she saw life was giving us a tug, she would always say, “Family Hug!”

She was like a flower that was blooming, shining bright as the moon. We were eternally blessed to have such memories. Lily was also an organ donor.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave. in Topeka; the family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lily Coats-Nichols Memorial Fund, c/o Quest Credit Union, c/o Quest Credit Union, 610 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66212.
