William Utech, age 95, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025. He was born to William H. C. Utech and Marie Anna (Schlesener) Utech on January 15, 1930 at the family farm in Tampa, Kansas.
He married Carol Lee Davis on September 23, 1951 in Topeka, Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Carol L. Utech; son in-law, Joesph C. Eakes; grandsons Chris J. Eakes and Tyler M. Brown, and 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
He is survived by his daughters Sheryl (Thad) Sullivan, Teri (Terry) Brown, Janet (Bryan) Smith, Dianne (Keith) Powell; son Randal (Stacey) Utech; a brother, Junior Utech and 2 sisters, Dolores Siggs and Grace Raven; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
William served in the United States Army during the Korean war from March, 1951 to December 20, 1952. He retired from the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company after 39 years of service. He was an amateur photographer, winning many awards during his lifetime. He was most proud of the Millenium fireworks photos which are currently displayed in many Kansas government offices.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00am on Monday, December 15, 2025 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 901 SW Filmore, Topeka, KS with visitation to begin an hour prior to service time. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Memorial Park Cemetery.
