William "Bill" M. Nesbit,63, affectionately known as Billy Billy or Dollar Bill, passed away on June 8, 2026, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on March 21, 1963, in Ottawa, Kansas, Bill was a vibrant and cherished member of his community whose onery and outgoing personality endeared him to all who knew him.
Bill, the youngest of four children, took great pride in the family farmland, a legacy passed down through generations. He deeply valued the connection it provided to his roots and ancestors, honoring their hard work and stewardship that shaped the land over the years. He grew up with an immense love for sports, playing football, baseball, and rugby in his youth. As an offensive guard on the Topeka West High School Chargers football team he was elected into the school’s Hall of Fame. A devoted fan of Kansas State University and the Kansas City Chiefs, he carried his passion for athletics throughout his life, extending it into his role as a dedicated football coach for the Catholic Middle School Football Program, the Topeka Saints.
Educationally, Bill graduated from Topeka West High School and furthered his studies at Kansas State University. Bill married, Cynthia E Nesbit in April 1985, and was later divorced. Bill and Cindy share two daughters, Jennifer E. Nesbit and Adrienne N. Nesbit. In his later years, Bill lived a quiet life in Rossville, Kansas, where he was grateful for the care and companionship he received from the staff and residents of Rossville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He held a special place in his heart for his parents, the late Mark P. and Margaret “Joan” (Manners) Nesbit. He is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer E. Nesbit, and Adrienne N. Nesbit (Nathan Purcell). His loving siblings Phillip F. Nesbit (Dorothy), Terry L. Nesbit (Cathy), Julie A. DeLong (Bobby), and many nieces and nephews. .
Friends and family will gather to honor Bill’s memory on June 15, 2026, at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Topeka. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. It will be a time for all who loved Bill to remember his bright spirit, his humor, and the joy he brought into their lives. For those wanting to join as Bill is laid to rest, the address for the Patton Cemetery is half a mile north of 27190 NW Arkansas Rd, Westphalia, KS.
