Vera Sutton Pearce, 86, of Topeka, passed away on March 7, 2024 at Midland Hospice House.

Vera Sharon Jantz was born on November 9, 1937 to Dan and Belle (Bailey) Jantz in McPherson, KS. She was the youngest of 7 children. She graduated from high school, and worked as a typist and legal secretary for 2 years.

She met and married Dwight Sutton in April 1956. Dwight was drafted into the army, and they lived together in Germany their first 2 yrs of marriage. Together they had two daughters, Julie and Jolene, and settled in Topeka. They enjoyed many years vacationing, and entertaining friends and family. They were married 29 years.

Vera went to work full time, when Julie and Jolene started school, and worked her way up from a typist to President and owner of Kansas Secured Title. She excelled in her knowledge of the title business, was President of Kansas Land Title Assoc x 2 years. She also was very active in Civitan x 35 years, She loved animals, and volunteered in North Topeka Vet's office and then Helping Hands Humane Society for years.

She then met and married Duane Pearce in March 1995, and welcomed his three children, Julie, Jeff and Jill to the family. They shared many adventures through memorable vacations, including scuba diving and photo safaris in Africa. They both loved hiking and water activities. They both attended many KSU games, and purple became one of Vera's favorite colors. They enjoyed their grandchildren and took the older ones on some adventure vacations as well. They enjoyed spending time with their friends with good food and lots of laughs.They were married 13 years. Vera's circle of friends enhanced her life greatly.

Vera is survived by her daughters; Julie Hall and Jolene Carter,step-daughters, Juile Pearce and Jill Pearce, grandchildren Reilly Hall, Alexander and Christina Hall, Adam Carter,Alexis Pearce, and Zachary Pearce.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Dan Jantz, Mother, Belle Jantz, her 6 older siblings,Stepson Jeff Pearce and grandson, Collin Carter.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 11, 2024, 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Topeka, Kansas.

A celebration of Vera's life will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, 11:00 am at the First Lutheran Church, Topeka, Kansas, with Reverend Jennifer Jackson, officiating.

Burial will follow services at Memorial Park Cemetery .

Memorials are suggested to the Helping Hands Humane Society or the Topeka Rescue Mission.
