Travis Lee Hansen, 50, Meriden, died March 27, 2026, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center surrounded by those who loved him.
He was born April 5, 1975, at Hadley Medical Center in Hays, the son of Lavern “Lee” and Donna (Rogers) Hansen.
He was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Robin Marie Beneda on March 27, 1999. Together they had two beautiful children before legally parting ways. However, their love never ended as they remained close until the end.
From a young age he showed his love for his country by being an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and eventually achieved the prestigious honor of becoming an Eagle Scout. He continued to display this love of country with 8 years of service in the Army as a specialist and 5 years of service in the Air Force as a Senior Airman.
He achieved his Bachelor of Science in Business from Friends University of Central Kansas and worked hard in a multitude of endeavors. His passion, however, lied in helping others. He could always be found giving a listening ear or lending a hand to someone in need and he was known to look for the best in people. He had a strong love of music and made sure to share this with as many as he could. Whether it was taking his kids to concerts, or buying his nieces and nephews their first instruments, he never stopped speaking the benefits of a good tune.
A stranger to no one, Travis had friends in every town across the state. He never passed up an opportunity to share a cold one and strike up a conversation – especially about motorcycles. He loved his Harley Davidson’s and was an active member of the American Veteran’s Motorcycle Club.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Earl and Lenora (Robinson) Hansen (Norton) and maternal grandparents Orval and Alana (Crawshaw) Rogers (McCracken), and Esther (Klaus) Rogers (Hays).
He is survived by his son Caden Hansen of Topeka, his daughter Cierra Hansen of Topeka, his parents, Lee and Donna (Rogers) Hansen of Hays, his brother Trenton (Beth) Hansen of Hays, his sisters Kelly Hansen of Hays, Jeanne (Ron) Stoss of Otis, Shonna (Matthew) Leiker of Des Moines, Iowa, Jayme (Adam) Goetz of Hays, Alysia Cook of Topeka, Lieacha (Levi) Lettau of Eswatini, Africa, and Kim Smith of Vinton, Iowa, as well as too many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relations to count.
The family would like to thank the staff of Overland Park Regional Medical Center and Hospice for their outstanding care, compassion, and professionalism during this time.
Memorial Services are pending and will be announced at a later date. Please check back.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to aide his children with the cost of arrangements.
