Timothy Dwight Rumpel (Tim) was born December 17, 1973, the day before his dad’s 30th birthday. He passed away Sunday November 2, 2025, at St. Francis hospital in Topeka, KS, at 51 years of age. He had never married, however, he had lots of friends that will miss his good nature, winning smile, and chuckle.
Tim’s parents were Dwight and Sharon (Allgeier) Rumpel. He also leaves behind a sister Rhonda (Charles) Williams, two nieces Ashley (Ian) Martindale, Amanda (Kody) Idell, a nephew CJ (Rachael) Williams, and a great nephew Jay; as well as many cousins.
Tim went through the Rossville school system, graduating from high school in 1992, and was a member of the Rossville Rustler’s 4-H Club growing up. He then went on to attend Kansas State University and received a degree in computer technology before working several years in the Kansas City area. After this, he returned to the K-State Salina campus and received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Tim worked for twenty years as a Design Engineer for Custom Dredge Works/Midwestern Metals, designing, among other items, sand dredges to be built and sent all over the world.
Among Tim’s other interests, he was an active member of the Great Plains Balloon Club, serving as the Club’s Crew Coordinator for the Huff-n-Puff Hot Air Balloon Rally. He also enjoyed playing board games with his cousins and friends, loved family outings, vacations, and canoe trips; and was a storm chaser just for the thrill of witnessing nature’s power up close. Tim also had a curious and creative mind, exploring the Japanese sword art for a time, something he shared with his brother-in-law, who continues to practice it today and found peace being in nature and the outdoors.
Although he was not an active church-goer, Tim was a baptized and confirmed member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Topeka. We believe he was at peace when he entered the arms of his Lord.
Tim was a gentle soul with a kind heart, a helping hand, and a great laugh, known for his trademark fake-hair visors wherever he went. He was deeply family-oriented, cherishing every moment spent with his family.
A visitation will take place on Monday, November 10th, 2025 from 10:00AM-11:00AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2021 SW 29th St, Topeka, KS 66611, with services beginning at 11:00AM, followed by interment at West Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 820 SW Auburn Rd, Topeka, KS 66615.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Tim's name to Our Savior 's Lutheran Church of Topeka, The American Cancer Society, or an organization close to your heart.
Tim's warmth, laughter, big smile, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
