Tenley Lee (Luksa) Brown

May 21, 1956 — June 15, 2025

Lawrence

The Lord got one of the good ones when he wrapped her soul in his arms on June 15th, 2025 and took her to be with Him. Her passing was totally unexpected and a shock to all.

Born to Donald and Marilyn Luksa (Shorthill) on May 21,1956, she was the fourth of seven children, all of whom survive her. Tenley certainly embraced the challenges of life with gusto and intensity.

She was a certified Montessori teacher, who also obtained a BA in Criminal Justice from Washburn University and made the Dean's list by attending night school for 14 years while being a single mother the entire time. She obtained her Master's Degree from the University of Kansas in 1998 and the coveted title of Master Clinical Social Worker in 2010. She was also a certified drug and alcohol counselor. She then embarked on a career as a professional counselor with her own private practice until her retirement in 2013.

She was the proud mother of Daphne Lee Lauber (Brown) who, with her husband Nick Lauber, have 3 children (Kai, Van and Stella) that were a driving force in the enjoyment of her life. Nobody enjoyed the role of grandmother more than Tenley.

She was married in 1992 to Arthur Brown and they lived a bountiful life together. A recent cancer survivor, it did not deter Tenley from continuing to enjoy her life to the fullest. In essence she was a very content and happy person.

Preceded in death by her above mentioned parents was a stepson, Troy Brown, who passed in 2015.

She is survived by her husband, daughter and her three children, stepson Bruce and wife Renee, and their daughter Emmy, another beloved grandchild, Two step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren from Springfield Missouri also survive.

Along with a grieving family, a cadre of friends and extended family will mourn the loss of this treasure of a person. Nobody will ever be missed more.

A celebration of Tenley's life will take place from 2:00pm to 4:00pm Sunday, June 29, 2025 at the Kay Mcfarland Japanese Garden and Venue, 635 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66606.
