Sherry Potter, 88, of Topeka, passed away on February 20, 2024 at Stormont Vail Hospital.
She was born on October 26, 1935 to Paul and Cleda (Noland) Tabor at Kansas City, MO. Sherry spent most of her early years in Topeka, KS.
Sherry worked in personnel at Mutual of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska for many years retiring as assistant vice president. After retiring, Sherry continued working as director of admissions at the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. Later, Sherry spent a number of years working at the Veteran's Administration in Topeka, Kansas before retiring.
Sherry is a graduate of Holiday Junior High in Topeka, Kansas. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1953. She continued her education at Washburn University and received her degree in 1957. Throughout high school and college, Sherry participated in orchestra as a violin player. Post graduation, she went on the earn a Master's degree from Creighton University in Omaha.
She was a lifelong member of the Sigma Alpha Iota Nation Music Sorority. Sherry attended Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church.
Sherry is survived by her brother Ronald Potter, his wife Rita Potter; nieces Jenn Lynn, Vicki Johnson, Erica Gruebler and Alexis Varner; nephew Craig Moody; great nephews Chase Varner, Casen Varner, Sebastian Gruebler and Dominic Gruebler; great nieces Seraphina and Marilena Gruebler.
She was preceded in death by her father; Paul Tabor, mother; Cleda Blanche Potter; brother, Tom Moody
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, 2:00 pm at the Penwell-Gabel - Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, Kansas, with Rev. Andrew Conard, officiating, visitation will be an hour prior to service time.
Memorials are suggested to Boys Town of Omaha, Nebraska.
