Sharon A. Hawks, 77, of Topeka, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on November 29, 2025, at Midland Hospice House.
She was born on November 19, 1948, to Gerald and Ida (Moore) Sharkey in Topeka, Kansas. She grew up in Oakland and graduated from Topeka High School in 1966.
Soon after high school she worked as an administrative assistant for an attorney in Topeka. Later she and Tom delivered newspapers for the Topeka Capital Journal to make a little extra money that turned into 20 plus years, but her most important job was staying home to raise her three children.
On April 26, 1968, she married Tom Hawks. Sharon and Tom lived in Topeka, Kansas and raised their three children Jim, Mike and April. They were heavily involved in their children’s sports teams. Their children and their friends spent summers enjoying the Hawks’ pool and playing basketball in the driveway. Both Sharon and Tom were avid K-State fans, having season football tickets for many years tailgating with friends and family. They enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with their best friends. Sharon’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. She spent their early years providing daycare. For years after that she could be seen on many sidelines and bleachers supporting her grandchildren at their sporting events. She was always up for a trip to McDonald’s for a diet coke, a shopping trip, vacation with family or a sleepover with her grandchildren.
She attended Grace Point church and was an active member of WOGS and enjoyed their monthly lunches.
Sharon is survived by her son; Jim (Debby) Hawks, daughter; April (Jesse) Maddox, grandsons; Tyler (Michelle) Hawks, Andruw Hawks, Jacob Hawks, and Keaton Maddox, granddaughters; Kenzie Maddox and Kendall Maddox, great grandchildren; Beau, Luka and Ellie Pearl-Hawks, brother; Jerry (Pauline) Sharkey, sister-in-law; Sharon K.
