Sandra Gail Morris, 80, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on July 31, 2024, at Bridge Haven Memory Care in Lawrence.
She was born on February 17, 1944, the daughter of Albert J and Mary E (Johnson) Carlson in Topeka, KS.
Sandra attended Topeka High School and then was united in marriage to Frank Morris on July 20, 1963. They were married for 60 years before Franks passing in 2023. They had one daughter, Rene Ann Morris. She preceded them in death.
For a number of years, Sandy served the community at the Eastboro Pharmacy as a Clerk. After leaving the Eastboro Pharmacy, she worked for the State of Kansas Department of Revenue until her retirement. Sandy also helped with bookkeeping duties at her husbands transmission shop.
Together, Sandy and Frank shared a love of the outdoors and of camping, returning to favorite spots to boat and fish, making lifelong friends on their travels. Family was a central part of their lives together; Sandy enjoyed the many holiday celebrations and get togethers with all of her extended family. She loved decorating for the holidays and dressing up for Halloween. Taking care of her home and yard and enjoying the fruits of her gardening were year-long activities. She kept up with her favorite sports teams, the Chiefs, the Royals, and KU. Sandy and Frank had season tickets for KU basketball for many years; they loved the energy of the stadium and watching their team up close.
Sandy and Frank always had a pet - cats but mostly dogs. Always well-trained, the dogs brought them so much joy and the animals’ colorful personalities reflected the love and attention Sandy and Frank gave to them.
She had fun in life and an incredible sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, siblings, Eleanor, Charles, Patricia, Janet, and Virginia.
Sandy is survived by her sister, Helen Compton and many nephews, nieces, and friends.
