Ronald Lee Schultz, known to many as Ron, was born on September 8, 1950, in Topeka, Kansas. He passed away on November 23, 2025 in Topeka, KS. He lived a life characterized by dedication, love, and passion for both his family and profession.
Ron graduated from Highland Park High School in 1968 and went on to attend Washburn University. However, he soon transitioned to military service, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Radio Officer. While serving, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge. In his downtime while serving, he played on the Marine Corps baseball team, showcasing his athletic abilities and love for the sport.
A distinguished career in plumbing and pipefitting spanned over 40 years, during which he was employed with McElroy’s. Ron's commitment to his craft was evident in the reliability and quality of work he provided. His technical knowledge and capabilities earned him respect within the industry, and he took great pride in his role as a skilled tradesman. He was a member of the Local 441 Plumber and Pipefitters Union for 50 years.
On May 25, 1974, Ron married his beloved wife, Deborah "Debbie" Kay Schultz in Topeka, Kansas. Together they built a loving home filled with opportunities for their children to thrive. Ron was an avid supporter of his daughter, Amy Alaniz, and son, Ryan Schultz, as well as a doting grandfather to Chris, Hailey, Josh, Makayla, Brianna, and Aiden, providing inspiration and encouragement at their sporting events and school functions.
His hobbies reflected his zest for life, including cherished moments camping and fishing at Melvern Lake. Ron’s competitive spirit carried over into his involvement in a bowling league, playing pool, and he enjoyed playing baseball in his youth and softball in his adult years, creating lasting memories with friends. As a young man, he enjoyed Quail and Pheasant hunting.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah, their daughter Amy (Joseph) Alaniz, son Ryan Schultz, and grandchildren Chris, Hailey, Josh, Makayla, Brianna, and Aiden. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Leroy Schultz and Anita May Schultz and brother, Larry Dean Schultz.
Ronald Lee Schultz will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the memories shared by all who knew him.
In his honor, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, the Colmery-O’Neil Veterans Medical Center or to the Topeka Rescue Mission.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606.
