Robert L. Apps

Robert L. "Bob" Apps, 79, Topeka, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008. He was born on April 7, 1928, in Burlingame Kansas. He was the son of Mattie Tubbs Apps and Earl M. Apps. He attended grade school in Burlingame and Boswell and Roosevelt Junior High Schools, and Topeka High School. He served in the Marine Corps from January 1952 to January 1954, obtaining the rank of Corporal. He was married to Barbara Sodergren Apps on October 20, 1961. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad from 1944 to 1985.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mattie Tubbs Apps and Earl M. Apps, his two brothers Alonso and Richard Apps, and his sister Marilyn Apps Johnson. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Apps, children, Nancy Apps Muther and husband John Muther, Pamela Apps Rankin and husband Timothy Rankin, grandchildren Kiersten and Kelsey Muther, Hanna, Hailey, and Holly Rankin. Robert was a charter member of Shawnee Boat and Ski Club, he enjoyed camping and woodworking.
Bob will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 731 SW Buchanan, Topeka, KS. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 731 SW Buchanan, Topeka, KS 66606.
