Robert Allen Dewater, a beloved figure whose laughter echoed through the lives of those who were lucky enough to know him, passed away on August 30, 2025, at Midland Care Hospice, leaving behind a legacy of humor, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Born on November 5, 1965, in San Diego, California, Robert spent his life cultivating a spirit that was both strong and gentle, a rare combination that made him truly unforgettable.
A career mechanic, Robert dedicated countless hours to mastering his craft, skillfully working for several different companies and earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. With a high school diploma in hand, he approached life with a work ethic that was relentless and admirable, showing up every day ready to tackle challenges.
Outside of work, Robert’s interests were as varied as his talents. He found immense joy in building RC planes and boats, hobbies that allowed him to unleash his creativity and passion for craftsmanship. An avid fisherman, Robert cherished his time by the water, often accompanied by his loyal dogs—Boog, Cody, Jazz, and Hero—and his beloved cat, Mittens. The lake was a special retreat for him, a place where he could unwind and connect with nature, often sharing these moments with his friends and family. Robert also loved to cook, putting love and delight into each dish he created.
Robert had a heart of gold; he was known as the most loving person one could ever meet, filled with grace and kindness. His sense of humor was contagious, bringing laughter to every gathering and brightening the days of those around him. His family will remember him not just for his dedication and hard work, but for the warmth and joy he brought into their lives.
He leaves behind his significant other, Nichole Goodwin, whom he lovingly referred to as his angel for two cherished years. His son, Nicholas Dewater and Nichole’s children, Gavyn and Gabriel Goodwin, will forever carry the lessons he imparted and the love he shared. Robert is also survived by his mother, Karen Emerson, and his sister, Diana Lee, who will hold him in their hearts as they navigate life without his presence.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Dewater, and his son, Richard Dewater—both of whom he will forever be remembered with love and fondness. His departure has created a void that will never be filled, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who loved him.
In his memory, may we all strive to embody the strength, love, and grace that Robert Dewater exemplified so effortlessly throughout his life.
