Robert A. "Bob" Cooper, 90, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012.
Bob was born on June 16, 1921, in Oklahoma City, OK, son of Robert E. and Henrietta (Wright) Cooper. He served in the US Air Force during WWII. Bob married Margaret Keller on July 19, 1941. He worked for Stauffer Publications for 34 years, retiring as a district manager in the circulation department. Bob was a newspaper carrier for the Topeka Capital Journal for many years.
He was a member of First Congregational Church, American Legion Post 400, and Orient Masonic Lodge No. 51 A.F. & A.M.
Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" Cooper, Topeka; children, Connie Mills, Topeka; Dee Dee Clifton and husband, Steve, Topeka; Mitch Cooper and wife, Mary, Topeka; grandchildren, Courtney Clifton, Brett Clifton and wife, Rhiannon, Jason Mills and wife, April, and Max Cooper; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ewan, and Maegan Mills; Connor, Parker, and Ella Clifton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Cooper; daughter, Barbara Ann Cooper Cook; son-in-law, Wayne Mills; and beloved aunt, Helen Wright Duke.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2012, at First Congregational Church, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, with Masonic Services being conducted by Orient Lodge No. 51 A.F. & A.M. Robert will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
