Richard E. Nurnberg, 62, Topeka, Kansas, died August 14, 2025, after a brief illness.
Born January 15, 1963, to Robert and Shirley (McCartney) Nurnberg in Emporia, Kansas, Richard attended local schools. His childhood was marked by a love of horsemanship, leading him to involvement in Kansas 4-H. In 1979, his devotion was recognized when he was named King of the Kansas State Horse Show Circuit at the Kansas State Fair. Richard moved to Topeka to attend Washburn University, where he graduated with honors.
Richard began his accounting career with Topeka firms Southwest Caging and Southwest Publishing. He continued this work with Moore RMG following its acquisition of the former two companies and was the Topeka division Accountant. He was also committed to community service. For nearly two decades he volunteered with Friends of the Free State Capitol Inc. for restoration of Constitution Hall in downtown Topeka.
Surviving are his sisters Rosalee, Arlene (Bill), Debbie (Mike), and many relatives, and his extended family Chris, Earl, Joanne, Doug, Camille, and Dee, and Cathy, Logan, Ken, Tom, Linda, and Micaela. All who knew Richard are remembering his generosity, professional dedication, and joy in supporting the well-being and work of others.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and by his stepmother, Sharon Nurnberg. Private tribute to him is being planned.
