Rachel Leigh Bevens, born on April 6, 1990, in Topeka, Kansas, passed away on September 14, 2024, in her hometown.
Rachel a vibrant individual who possessed an unwavering love for music. She derived great pleasure from the tunes of Eminem, Primus, and Kansas, often seen singing and dancing to her favorites, including the timeless classics from the Spice Girls. Music formed an integral part of her identity, expressing her emotions and connecting her to others.
In addition to her musical talents, Rachel shared a special bond with her father, Lonnie Bevens, as they spent countless hours cheering at drag races, reveling in the adrenaline and excitement of the events. Rachel's adventurous spirit was also evident in her love for travel, with memorable trips to Hong Kong and Thailand in 2011 and 2012, enriching her life experiences and broadening her horizons. She also enjoyed fishing in her younger years.
Rachel's warmth and zest for life were further highlighted by her cherished moments spent with her mother, enjoying late-night talk shows, particularly the comedic flair of Jay Leno.
Rachel was not only a loving daughter but also a treasured friend. Her close friendship with Megan Haid was a significant aspect of her life, marked by shared laughter and experiences.
Rachel is survived by her devoted father, Lonnie (Rachel Koh) Bevens, along with her aunts Jeannette (Robert) Toppel, Charlotte (David) Frampton, and Marilyn (Humberto) Soto, as well as her uncle David (Jodie) Bevens; 14 cousins and her closest friend, Megan Haid who will remember her vibrant spirit and the joy she brought to their lives.
Though Rachel’s time with us was far too brief, her legacy of love for music, family, and adventure will remain etched in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Odin's Lair, located in NOTO at 921 N Kansas Ave, Topeka, KS 66608 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. This is a causal come and go time to visit with Rachel's family. The family encourages you to support the small business while in attendance as they have graciously provided their venue space for the celebration. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312.
