Preston Lee Pease entered the Kingdom of Heaven September 15, 2024. He was born at Offutt AFB, Nebraska, April 30, 1950, to Bill and Lorena Pease. The oldest child in a military family, Preston’s early years saw adventures in Kansas, Guam, Iowa, France, and Washington before the family returned to Topeka.
Preston graduated from Topeka West High School in 1969. Mechanically gifted, he also completed all requirements and was awarded a Doctor of Motors certificate. He worked at the Kansas State Industrial School for Boys until he was attacked by three residents on New Year’s Eve, 1989. Severely beaten, his life changed drastically that night. Medically retired from the State of Kansas because of a traumatic brain injury, Preston continued to uplift and assist friends and family for the next 35 years. He had a generous spirit and a wonderful sense of humor.
He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his sister, Janet Tucker, nephews Matthew (Sarina) and David Tucker, nieces Rachel Davidson and Faith Ray, and great nieces Audrey Tucker and Emma Ray.
A devoted Christian, for many years Preston looked forward to reuniting with beloved family and friends, to include both parents, brother, Craig Pease, and wives Sherry Pulver and Therese Malone Pease.
The family suggests those who wish to honor his life do something kind for a relative, friend, neighbor or puppy dog, as he had throughout his life. He would want us all to slow down and be present in our relationships with others.
The family would like to acknowledge the care and assistance Preston received over the years from many friends, but especially Dr Roy Menninger, Pedro Irigonegaray, and Nila Harmon. We also want to acknowledge our deep appreciation for the thoughtful, loving care Susie Rabb gave Preston over the past year.
Viewing will be at Penwell-Gable, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, Kansas, the evening of Sep 20, from 5:00-8:00. Funeral service will be held at Penwell-Gabel on Saturday afternoon, Sep 21 at 1:00, followed by burial service at Mount Hope Cemetery, Veterans Section, also in Topeka.
Preston has graduated and is now a guardian angel.
