Patricia Ann Toland

Patricia Ann Toland, known as Patsy to some, passed away August 4, 2026, in Topeka Kansas with family at her side.

Pat was born on October 2, 1948, in Washington DC to Burniece and Leroy Mundy. She had one sister Jeanie who preceded her in death. Pat was a graduate of Hutchinson High School in 1966 where she met her soon to be husband Dave Toland. In her Senior annual Pat wrote that she was going to marry Dave as one of her future goals. And so she did, they were married shortly after graduation on July 23, 1966. From there, they began a life of adventure together. David preceded Pat in death on June 11, 2016.

She began early in life following in her mother’s footsteps by learning to sew. As a young mother she made clothes for her children and later in life excelled at quilt making. She also became known for her baby blankets she gave as gifts to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and babies in between. She joined her best friends for quilting trips throughout Kansas and Missouri and enjoyed lunches with her friends of the Red Hat Society. She worked for many years at Ben Franklin where she was immersed in fabric and helping others with their fabric needs. Pat was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she could be found teaching young children in primary, working in the library as well as serving for many years in the Family History Library.

Pat is survived by her six children, Michael D. Toland, Erda, UT, Matthew (Jennifer) Toland, Bella Vista, AR, Erin (Van) Wilkinson, Greenbrier, TN, Christopher Toland, Manhattan, KS, Julie Toland, Topeka, KS and Adam (Tammi) Toland, Topeka, KS; 13 grandchildren, Conner, Caitlin, Bailey, Maizie, Sierra, Seth, Ethan, Donovin, Caulder, Jace, Makayla, Piper and Aiden, and 11 great grandchildren.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3611 SW Jewel Ave, Topeka 66611. There will be a viewing for Pat on Thursday August 20, 2026, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. A graveside ceremony will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 22 at the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, KS.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Midland Care of Topeka Kansas that cared for Pat in her later days.
