Orville Herbert "Red" Moore, 86, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017, at Stormont Vail Health Center.

Red was born June 30, 1931, in Luther, MI, to Orville and Myrtle (Bartlett) Moore. He was the youngest of several brothers and sisters who have preceded him in death. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

At the age of 17, he enlisted into the U.S. Army for 3 years, taking basic training at Fort Riley and serving the rest of the enlistment in Germany.

After a few years back in Michigan, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and spent nearly 18 years as a Staff Sergeant, Aircraft Engine Mechanic, traveling worldwide. After retirement from the military, he settled in Topeka and worked for Essex Wire until his final retirement.

He was a member of American Legion, VFW, and was a life-time member of the AMVets. Red was also a member of University United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, country music, and socializing with his friends.

A gathering in Red's memory will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Thornton Place, 2901 SW Armstrong Ave, Topeka, KS 66614. Friends are invited to attend. Red will be buried in Luther, MI at a later date.
