Nancy Jo Vaughn

Nancy Jo Vaughn, 88 passed away on December 27, 2025 at Evergreen Assisted Living and Memory Care in Frisco, Texas. 

She was born December 29, 1936 in Topeka, Kansas and graduated from Topeka High School in 1954. She was an avid golfer and would sometimes play 36 or 45 holes in one day. Her true passion, however was working. When she was a little girl, she would sit out on the back staircase with a notepad, pencil and a phone book and pretend she was working in an office. After graduating from High School, she went to work at Kansas Power and Light. In the early 1960’s she began working at General Printing and Paper where she did accounting and eventually became an Office Manager. General Printing changed hands and became Graphic Promotions until they finally closed their doors. From there she went to Jayhawk File Express until she retired at the age of 75. 

In November of 2015 she and her husband moved to a Golf Resort community in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas where she lived for 10 years. She then moved to Frisco, Texas to be close to her son due to declining health. She was a DEDICATED wife, mother, employee and friend who touched the hearts of us all. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her. She was truly the BEST of the BEST!

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 2:00 pm, with visitation starting at Noon, both at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66604.

Interment will take place following funeral service at West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
