Nancy S. (Fadely) Peel, 94, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026.
She was born January 13, 1932, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Richard and Dorothy (Sutherin) Fadely. Nancy maintained treasured friends from Topeka at her elementary school, Topeka High School and Washburn University to this day. She was very active with Alpha Phi Sorority at Washburn University where she served many roles, including President, and maintained her lifetime membership. Nancy was very involved with cheerleading in college and was cheer leader for two years. She was also very involved with Young Republicans.
Nancy enjoyed decades singing in the church choir at Village Presbyterian Church, Prairie Village, KS, especially at Easter when they performed Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. She was a member there for 64 years. Nancy’s career as a supervisor of the proofing and typing department at Black & Veatch in Overland Park, KS, spanned 32 years until retirement in 1996.
Her two boys, John and Gary, were everything to her as she raised them in the Kansas City area, enjoying active boys in sports, sprint car racing events, camping, and Lake Texoma fishing vacations. She lovingly welcomed Patty and Dee as daughters-in-law, and the six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren her family grew into. She was known as the “I-70 Grandma” as she traveled between Topeka, KS and Columbia, MO to attend many family activities. When family gathered at Lake Pomona, the kids loved receiving holiday gifts from Gram, especially 4th of July bags!
You often found Nancy dressed in her favorite color purple, planning gatherings, events and parties where she was the social coordinator. Nancy loved to laugh! Her contagious laughter made you feel warm and loved. She would brighten up a room and make her presence known.
She leaves behind sons, John (Deanne) Peel of Afton, OK and Gary (Patty) Peel of Columbia, MO; her grandchildren, Brian (Joni) Peel, Lauren (Abel) Frederic, Erin (Chris) Roxbury, Jessica Peel, Stephen (Bonnie) Peel and Emily (Benjamin) Bowman; great grandchildren, Knox Peel, Manning Peel, Zion Roxbury, Kolbe Roxbury, Gabriel Frederic, Beckett Peel, Sophia Peel and Beckham Bowman.
