Michael D. Stufflebean

January 14, 1950 — April 6, 2021

Michael D. Stufflebean, 71, of Topeka, KS passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at his home eight weeks after diagnosis of small cell lung cancer.

Mike was born January 14, 1950 in Saint Joseph, Missouri, the son of Vernon Ray Stufflebean Sr. and Geraldine S. Garner. They moved to Topeka prior to Mike starting public school; his father becoming a tower guard at the prison on 6th Street.

Mike graduated from Highland Park High School in 1968. He graduated with a double certification in heating and electricity from Kaw Valley Technical School with honors. For over 25 years, Mike worked in the pet food industry, followed by employment at Ice Masters and Aldersgate. For 10 years he volunteered at the Shepherd's Center of Topeka where his wife was the Director. Mike was a huge dog lover, avid KU basketball fan, loved watching birds while enjoying a good cup of coffee.

Mike was preceded in death by both parents, an older brother, Vernon Jr. and sister, Sandy.

He is survived by his younger brother Kenny; his wife, Debra Guiou; daughters: Michelle Stufflebean, Brandy Stufflebean Young; son, Kelly Stufflebean; step-children: Shelby Fry, Hope Koch, and Brooke Congdon; and 12 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Shepherd's Center of Topeka, 4101 SW 15th St., Topeka, KS 66604 (please be sure and put "Michael Stufflebean Donation" in the memo of your check or First Presbyterian Church for Local Missions, 817 SW Harrison, Topeka, KS 66612.

Celebration of Life Services will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison St, Topeka. Mike's final resting place will be at the Historic Topeka Cemetery, 1601 SE 10th Ave, Topeka.

Covid 19 Protocol: No refreshments and fellowship time will follow service. First Presbyterian continues the practice of wearing face masks and using social distancing between pews.

Enjoy the photo montage and 60's music 30 minutes before service begins. Those attending in person, please dress casually. If the parking lot is full, Harrison Street is metered parking.
