Mary Lee (Woody) Cushing, 76, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

She was born November 29, 1949, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Dittman) Woody. She graduated from Topeka West High School.

Mary dedicated several years to her career as a self‑employed professional and was the proud owner of Topeka Payroll. She found great joy in bowling and participated in several leagues throughout the years. Mary was also a devoted member of the WIBC, where she excelled in the sport and received numerous recognitions for her skill and commitment.

Among her many passions, Mary’s love for racing stood above all else. From dirt tracks to NASCAR, she cherished every moment spent at the races. Many will remember her excitement as she loaded up each weekend, eager to support her favorite drivers.

Mary also enjoyed watching KU Basketball and treasured the companionship of her beloved pets. Over the years, she shared her favorite chair with many furry friends, each one holding a special place in her heart. Her love for animals was truly unmatched. She enjoyed the time she had with her grandchildren as well.

Survivors include her son, Chris (Danielle) Cushing and her beloved grandchildren, Britny Cushing, Dawson Cushing and Carter Cushing. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Private services will be held. She will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery in Maple Hill, Kansas.
