John Campbell McArthur II, 74, of Meriden, passed away on September 18, 2025 in Meriden, Kansas.
He was born on February 23, 1951, in Lawrence, Kansas, to Harvey and Madge (Jones) McArthur. John spent his early years in Lawrence, where he attended grade school. His family later moved to Lindsborg, Kansas, during his junior high years, and eventually settled in Topeka. He graduated from Hayden High School in 1969.
John attended the University of Kansas and later earned a Bachelor of Education degree from Washburn University in 1973. He went on to have a long and successful career as a financial advisor, eventually becoming a part-owner of Beecroft Cole & Co. He retired from George K. Baum in 2019.
On September 28, 1974, John married the love of his life, Sandra “Sandy” Morse, in Topeka. Together they raised three sons in Meriden, Kansas.
A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, John was deeply involved in his community. He coached youth basketball, baseball, and football, positively influencing many young lives. A lifelong Kansas Jayhawks fan, John proudly held season tickets to both KU football and basketball for 50 years.
John had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, who were always considered part of the family. Over the years, his home was filled with the loyal companionship and unconditional love of many beloved pets. His gentle nature and special bond with animals reflected the kindness he showed to everyone around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 51 years; Sandy McArthur, his son; Troy (Brandee) McArthur, and their daughters; Brielle (Grant) Johnson, Teegan McArthur, and Taylee McArthur; son; Lance (Melissa) McArthur, and their daughters; Ava and Mya McArthur; son; Cody (Jennifer) McArthur and their two children, sisters; Rebecca (Danny) McMillen and Sally Mayo, as well as many nieces and nephews other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Harvey J. McArthur and Madge E. McArthur.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., both at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Kansas.
Following the service, all are warmly invited to a remembrance gathering at John and Sandy’s home, 9991 Greenview Drive, Meriden, Kansas.Sandwiches, snacks, and beverages will be served as family and friends come together to share memories and celebrate John's life.
