Jeanette Marie North, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, in her hometown of Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 74. She was born on December 11, 1951, the daughter of Lawrence and Agnes (Lysek) Hafner.
Jeanette was proud to be a graduate of Hayden High School, furthering her education at Kaw Area Technical School, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree. This achievement reflected her passion for helping others and her desire to make a difference in the lives of those she encountered.
For over 35 years, Jeanette served as a dedicated Shift Leader at Burger King, where she touched the lives of many with her warm smile and unwavering commitment to her role. After her time there, she continued to serve her community through her work at Dillons, embodying a spirit of service that will be fondly remembered.
In her personal life, Jeanette found joy in many simple pleasures. She absolutely loved playing Bingo, often gathering friends and family to join in the fun. A devoted fan of Elvis Presley, she cherished the music that brought so much happiness to her life. Her enthusiasm for sports was evident; she enjoyed watching women's softball and was a die-hard fan of the Topeka Roadrunners Hockey team. There was rarely a game she missed, as being part of the crowd brought her immense joy.
Above all, Jeanette's pride and joy were her grandchildren: Mikayla (Malik) Cobbins and Devon (Megan) Keeling. The time she spent with her great-grandchildren, Kaiser Cobbins, Sawyer, and Declyn Keeling, filled her heart with happiness and laughter. They were the highlight of her life, and she cherished every moment spent together.
Jeanette is survived by her loving children, Tracy (Wayne) Keeling and Teddy North; her sister, Joyce (George) Scheckel; her dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored her deeply. She also leaves behind her beloved niece, Mindy Tilley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale North, her parents and brother, Larry (Judy) Hafner, who have welcomed her with open arms.
As we remember Jeanette Marie North, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit. Her legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those she cherished and in the memories she created. Private services will be held. She will be laid to rest at Topeka Cemetery. In her honor, memorial contributions can be made to the LULAC Center for Senior Citizens,1502 NE Seward Avenue, Topeka, KS 66616.
