Jean Perry Stone, 89, of Topeka, formerly of Kansas City, KS, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012.
She was born November 10, 1922 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of James Grant and Sadie Belle (Ashlock) Perry.
She was a 1940 graduate of Wyandotte High School. She attended Kansas City Kansas Junior College.
Jean was employed by Brotherhood State Bank in Kansas City, KS for 25 years, retiring in 1984.
She was an active member of Trinity Community Church and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the American Business Women's Association, where she was honored as Business Women of the Year and member of the Order of Eastern Star in Kansas City, KS. She served on the Board of Directors for the YWCA and volunteered at the Bethany Hospital where her and her husband had been recognized as Volunteers of the Year.
Jean married Garth W. Stone on October 7, 1945 at Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1997. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Garth Stone and James Edward "Jim" Stone, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Janet (Rick) Land, Topeka, KS; a daughter-in-law, Karen Stone, Goodland, KS; seven grandchildren, Tige, Seth (Katie), Luke (Taryn), Jayci and Halli Stone, Jenny (Rob) Carter and Lacey (Chad) Gerhardt; and five great-grandchildren, Camryn and Brett Carter, Hunter and Bodey Gerhardt and Denison Stone; and her loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral ceremonies will be 11 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Trinity Community Church, 5010 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66104. Interment will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Community Church. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.
