Jean Marie Brown

Jean Marie Brown, 91, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

She was born September 8, 1934, in Burlington, Kansas, the daughter of Ray and Elmira Christy. She graduated from Burlington High School.

Jean married Francis V. Brown on June 13, 1954 in Burlington, KS. They had two children, Philip and Kristie, to their union in marriage. She loved to travel with Fran all over the world enjoyed cruising.

She never missed a KU Basketball game and enjoyed watching the Chiefs play on Sunday’s. Over the years, Jean collected various crystal dish pieces for her china cabinet. She enjoyed playing her computer poker game.

Survivors include a daughter, Kristie (Ron) Runyan; her grandchildren, Todd (Deborah) Brown, Erika Brown, Ashlyn (Shawn Reed) Brown, Melinda (Paul) Bisel and Corey (Kylie) Runyan; great grandchildren, Koryn and Katelyn Garcia, Eleanor Brown, and Amber, Mackenzie, Jacob and Ethan Bisel. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Philip Brown and her parents.

A graveside service will be 3:00 pm., Friday, May 1, 2026 at the Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Croix Hospice 5835 SW 29th St Suite 200, Topeka, KS 66614.
