James B. Duncan

James Bernard Duncan went to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at his home in Topeka, Kansas.

Jim was born on November 14, 1934, in Emporia, KS. He was baptized and received first communion at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His spent early years outside Emporia working on the family farm with his father and brothers. He graduated from Emporia High School then went on to receive a degree in accounting from Emporia State University. Jim moved to Topeka to work for Yonning and Associates accounting firm.

Jim met his wife; Melody, at a singles picnic in Topeka. Their eyes met and they dated for seven years before marrying on May 7, 1983.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Thomas James and Eva Alberta Specht-Duncan, brothers; Dennis Duncan and Philip Duncan.

Jim was deeply loved and will be missed by his wife of 41 years; June Melody (Parker) Duncan, sisters; Alberta McFadden, Pat Lackey, brother; Larry (Rosalie) Duncan and many nieces and nephews. 

Jim was a very generous man. He supported various Catholic organizations including his parish, Mater Dei, where he was head usher for many years. He also shared with other organizations, too many to list. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Memorial service will be 1:00pm, Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time.
