Jack E. Collie

Jack E. Collie passed away September 21, 2026 at the age of 69. He was born April 25, 1957 to the late Merton Dale & Mildred Aileen (Carlson) Collie of Topeka.

Jack married the love of his life, Leta Sippel on September 3, 1977 in Salina, KS. They reached 49 years of marriage.

Jack is survived by his wife Leta, daughter Adrienne Olejnik (Neil) of Rossville, son Andrew Collie (Robin) of Kansas City, Kansas, granddaughters Grace and Reese Olejnik and sister, Debra Heston (Fred) of Derby, KS. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and a niece, Kelsey Heston.

Jack graduated from Topeka High School and Kansas State University with an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology. He obtained his Associate of Fire Science from Kansas City Kansas Community College. He dedicated his career to the Topeka Fire Department. He rose through the ranks, retiring in 2015 as Division Chief of Training after 29 years of service. He had previously worked for Utility Contractors in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The years Jack lived in Tulsa with Leta were impactful, as this is where they gave their hearts to the Lord at the West Tulsa Free Will Baptist Church. Many good friends still remain in Tulsa.

Jack was a member of the Topeka Baptist Church, the Christian Cadet Corp as an adult leader and the Gideons International. He particularly enjoyed the interaction with the public while distributing Bibles to children and their parents. As his own children and granddaughters grew up, he loved watching them compete in sports and perform in events. No one was more proud than Jack when they did well.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 3 at 10:00am at Topeka Baptist Church at 3301 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66614. The funeral service will directly follow visitation at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka, KS 66618, immediately following the service. The Topeka Fire Department will assist as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, Topeka Baptist Church or Save the Kitties (Derby, KS) and left at the church.
