Greg Davis Kirby, a devoted friend, loving family man, and steadfast soul, passed away on June 28, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital. He was born on March 2, 1968, in Clay Center, Kansas, where his journey began and set the foundation for a life rich with love, laughter, and loyalty.
For most of his life, Greg worked as an industrial painter at Topeka Metal Specialties/Ernest Spencer, dedicating himself to his craft since the tender age of 18. His work ethic and commitment were mirrored by his personality; he was known as a very loyal friend, someone you could always count on in times of need. There was a reassuring sense of safety that accompanied Greg, a comforting presence that brought peace to those fortunate enough to know him.
Greg had a passion for the great outdoors, finding joy and solace in hunting with both a bow and shotgun. His love for adventure was matched only by his enthusiasm for the open road as a Harley man through and through. A hardcore Kansas City Chiefs fan, he embraced every game with spirited fervor, cheering on his team with unwavering loyalty.
Beyond his hobbies and interests, Greg had a soft spot for his beloved dogs, Bella and Rosie, who filled his home with companionship and joy. Each wag of their tails was a reminder of the simple pleasures in life that he cherished deeply.
He was especially proud of his 25 years of sobriety, a testament to his strength and resilience that inspired all around him. His legacy of perseverance and loyalty will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
Greg is survived by his loving stepdaughters, Shannon Toomey, Mandy Zechel, and Casey Zechel, who will carry forward his spirit and values. He leaves behind nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with warmth, guidance, and love.
He now joins his beloved wife, Linda Kirby, and his parents, Dave and Glenda Kirby, as well as his sister, Kathleen Kirby, in a peaceful rest, where free from pain, they are reunited once more.
As we remember Greg Davis Kirby, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with loyalty, love, and unwavering commitment to family and friends. His light will continue to shine brightly through the lives he impacted, and he will forever be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
