Gina Lockhart, age 61, peacefully passed away on December 30, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on August 7, 1964, in Topeka, Kansas, she was the daughter of Richard and Virginia (Pence) Lockhart. Gina had a spirit that radiated warmth and friendship; to know Gina was to have a friend for life. Her ability to connect with others was undeniable, and she was blessed with a multitude of friends who admired her kindness and compassion.
A passionate traveler, Gina cherished the memories made on her many adventures, whether it was basking in the sun in New Mexico, experiencing the magic of Disney World, enjoying the sights in Branson, or setting sail on exciting cruise destinations. Among her travels, one of Gina's most treasured experiences was seeing her favorite team, K-State, play at a bowl game in San Antonio.
Gina participated in the Special Olympics, where her talent as an excellent swimmer shone bright. She was also a valued and dedicated team member at Burger King for over 12 years. When not embarking on new journeys, Gina loved to unwind watching sports and savoring her favorite drink, a crisp diet coke.
Gina is survived by her bonus family, including Linda Pore and Olga Hennessey, as well as many others. All of whom will miss her very much.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026 at 11:00AM at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604 with a visitation 30 minutes prior.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to TARC, Shawnee County’s most experienced provider of support for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, which was an organization very close to Gina’s heart. Gina leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unwavering friendships. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
