Edgar Lee Lakin, 86, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in his home surrounded by family.
He was born January 27, 1938, in Slater, Missouri, the son of Raymond and Ruby Edna Marie (Herman) Lakin. He graduated from Raytown High school in 1956. He served in the Air Force for 12 years in active duty completing his military career through the Kansas Air National Guard 190th Air Refueling Group, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1990.
Edgar enjoyed traveling and keeping up with friends and family.
Edgar married Peggy (Chrisman) Lakin on May 15th, 2004 in Topeka, Kansas.
Survivors include his Wife, Peggy Lakin, Daughter, Ann (Lynn) Scott, Daughter, Karen (Chad) Riveland, Son, Eric (Jean) Lakin, Brother, David Gene (Marilyn) Lakin, Sister, Ramona (David) Shackles, Sister, Catherine Bullard, Grandson, Stephen (Larisa) Scott, Grandson, Sean Scott, Granddaughter, Natalie Scott, Granddaughter, Emma Scott, Granddaughter, Beverly (Joe)Young, Granddaughter, Katherine Buckner, Granddaughter, Vivian Lakin, Great Grandson, Lawrence Scott, Great grandson, Wells Scott, Great granddaughter, Annabel Young, Great granddaughter, Millie Young, Great granddaughter, Bella Buckner and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Stefni O’Donohoe Lakin, Father, Raymond E Lakin, Mother, Ruby Edna Marie Lakin, Brother Kenneth Wayne Lakin.
Edgar enjoyed traveling, stayed current with new technologies and was recently working toward obtaining his Hamm radio license. He stayed in touch with his 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren through facetime and texting. Edgar also enjoyed spending time with the two-family cats.
Edgar chose to be cremated. A visitation at 10 am followed by a memorial ceremony at 11am will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison St. Topeka, Kansas 66612 Thursday October 03, 2024. Interment of the cremated remains will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
