Dr. Eddie Randolph Fowler, 92, of Topeka, passed away Monday, August 24, 2026.
He was born February 12, 1934, in Sasawka, Oklahoma, the son of Chester Randolph and Mary Permelia (McCord) Fowler. He was a graduate of Russell High School, Russell, KS. He received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University and his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until being honorably discharged in 1960.
Dr. Fowler was an Electrical Engineering Professor at University of Missouri at Rolla. He served an Electrical Engineering Professor at West Point Academy for two years while also serving at Kansas State University, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka. He also held many professional memberships, including IEEE.
Dr. Fowler married Patricia Ann Coffin in 1954. She preceded him in death in1996. He married Carol Cunningham Snyder in 1997. She preceded him in death on 2016. Survivors include two sons, Dirk Randolph Fowler of Florence, CO and Kim Randol Fowler of Dunn, NC; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren and one expected.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Eric Edwin Fowler; and his sister, Delphin Becker.
Dr. Fowler loved his family and serving as an educator both in college and his church. He enjoyed square dancing with Patricia and singing in the choir with his wife Carol. Other enjoyments included church fellowship, refereeing high school basketball and football, lunchtime pickup basketball, remodeling houses to lose money, moving dirt, and pouring concrete.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:15 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka, where a celebration of his Christian life will begin at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., June 5, 2027, in Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John, KS. Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions in Topeka is assisting the family.
