Dr. John Christyan Marsh

John Christyan Marsh died October 1, 2025. John was born January 28, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri. He spent his childhood in Stillwell, Kansas.

John graduated with honors from medical school in 1992 at the University of Kansas.

He spent his internship at the University of Hawaii from 1992 to 1993, his residency in Ophthalmology ‘1993-‘1996at KUMC, and his fellowship in glaucoma at Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA ‘1996-‘1997. Dr. Marsh was part of the Topeka medical community as an Ophthalmologist for 20 years. Dr. Marsh knew many of his Topeka colleagues from medical school and was known by his patients as attentive and conscientious. He was beloved by many.

John’s passion was hunting, fishing and trapping. He went on many adventures and shared his experiences with family and friends. John, though reserved, was fun loving and always the prankster. John married Brenda M Beason- Marsh on May 3, 2003. She survives along with their son Jason Marsh, mother Carolyn Marsh, brothers Jamie and Robin Marsh, and sister Sara Marsh. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father John A. Marsh DDS.

In keeping with his generous nature, John chose to be an organ donor, giving the gift of life to others. Abraham Lincoln said it best, “in the end it’s not the years in your life that count it’s the life in your years. “ We know John lived life well. We will miss you John and the faith you held dear is that one day we will see you again.

A Memorial Service to honor his beautiful life will take place at 10:30am October 11, 2025 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1275 SW Boswell Ave, Topeka, KS 66604.

In lieu flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John's name to Westminster Presbyterian Church or to a foundation of your choosing.
