Dorothy E. Griffin, 82, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012.
Dorothy was born March 19, 1929, in Cameron, TX, daughter of Albin and Anna (Hampel) Kleiber. She attended Wheaton and Onaga Public Schools, and Strickler Business College. Dorothy worked for Santa Fe Railroad until her retirement in 1973. She served on the Kansas Board of Agriculture from 1959-1969.
Dorothy was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and volunteered at American Cancer Society.
Dorothy is survived by one son, Delbert Griffin and his wife Carla; one sister, Helen Marten; two step grandsons, Shaun Howley, and Steve Howley and wife Amy, Topeka; three step great-grandchildren, Jenna Howley, Jordon and Jacob Jenson; three nephews, Danny, Larry, and Brian Marten; one niece, Bev Marten; and many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother in law, Lloyd Marten.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. A visitation will be held prior to the graveside service, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, Kansas 66604-4020.
