Donna Rae Dederick

Donna Rae Dederick, 87, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023.

She was born February 21, 1936, in Vliets, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Alice (Burd) Crowder. She graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1954.

Shortly after graduating high school, she married the love of her life Norman Dederick. They were married April 13, 1955 in Oklahoma. They would spend the next 68 years loving each other.

Donna worked for the State of Kansas as a Clerk and retired in 1994.

She and Norman were members of Grace Episcopal Cathedral of Topeka.

Donna loved to cook and would always make sure everyone around her was fed. She adored the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family meant everything to Donna. In her spare time, she also enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She had a passion for reading and enjoyed working on puzzles. Donna was an avid football fan, but her favorite was the Kansas State Wildcats.

She leaves behind her husband, Norman Dederick; her children, Kent (Susie) Dederick and Teal (Paul) Figgs; her beloved grandchildren, Brae (Keith) Richards, Shelby (Brian) Simpson and Jake (Hannah) Figgs; her great grandchildren, Charlotte and Evalyn Richards and Elliot, Warren and Josephine Simpson. She was preceded in passing by her parents and siblings, Maxine Lang, Wilma Waters, Peggy Snook, Bill Crowder and Raymond Crowder.

Honoring her wishes, cremation is planned. A graveside memorial service will take place at a later date at the Blue Rapids Cemetery. In her honor, memorial contributions may be made to Project Topeka, PO Box 5562, Topeka, KS 66605 to help feed the Topeka Community.
