Cody Lane Bush

Cody Lane Bush, a vibrant soul aged 30, of Topeka, Kansas, left us too soon on September 1, 2025. He was born to Steven Bush and Tonya Brooks on November 2, 1994, from that day forward, his light filled the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.

Cody was a beacon of joy, renowned for his infectious smile that could brighten the darkest of days. While he carried a spirited temperament, those who loved him understood that beneath it lay a heart overflowing with love and generosity- unless you scuffed up his shoes! An outgoing individual brimming with talent, he thrived in the spotlight and had an extraordinary way with words. Cody cherished his creative outlets; whether drawing, diving, skateboarding, or his favorite, counting money —these moments brought him pure joy.

Above all, Cody deeply valued his family. He loved his son, Treyton, and was often referred to as a “Mama’s boy,”... It was this closeness to his loved ones that defined him. His family and friends were paramount to his life, and he made sure they knew how much they meant to him.

Cody is survived by his loving parents Tonya (David) Brooks and Steven (Brandy) Bush, son, Treyton Schwant, brother, Kade Rhoads, step brothers, Kayleb and Kyle Brooks, step sister, Melissa Brooks, step-brother, Craig (Isahbo) Ukena, step-sister, Haley (Nathaniel) King, grandparents, John (Virginia) Rhoads, grandmother, Sandra White, grandfather, Calvin Bush, good friend, Anthony Brown, uncle, Mark (Natalie) Rhoads, aunt, Teresa (Timothy Willis) Rhoads, aunt, Connie (Eddie Souders) Rhoads and many nieces, nephews, and friends – all of whom will miss him very much.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, 1:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604 with funeral services beginning at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Meyers officiating.
