Charles R. Blankenship

December 30, 1930 — June 21, 2022

Charles "Chuck" R. Blankenship, 91, of Overbrook, formerly of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

He was born December 30, 1930, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Roy and Sadie (Young) Blankenship. He graduated from Hayden High School in 1949. He served in the United States Air Force.

Charles was an Insurance Executive for Victory Life Insurance for 34 years retiring in 1995.

He was active in various church organizations throughout his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and building bird houses.

Chuck married Lois Metzger in January 1951. To their union in marriage, they welcomed seven children.

He married Billie Houston in February 1981. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2020.

Survivors include a his children, Sue (Homer Ossiander) Rosenbaum, Barb (Dave) Berry, Jayne (John) Shepherd, Sallie (Scott) Wetschensky, Lisa Blankenship, and Judi (Ron) Gray; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild; daughter in law, Beth Blankenship. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chuck Blankenship; sibilings, Virginia Smith, Roy Blankenship, Ocea Sherretts, Howard Blankenship, Mary Jones, John Blankenship and Leonard Blankenship.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
