Catherine (Cricket) Marie Wadley, 50, of Topeka Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at the Wadley family home in Topeka. Born in Gainesville Florida on December 14, 1974, Cricket graduated from Washburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and later went on to earn her masters.
Cricket dedicated her work to helping others, serving as a hospice social worker even while Cricket was battling cancer. Cricket loved fishing (but not so much taking the fish off the hook) and bird watching at Lake Perry. Cricket lived in Oskaloosa, Kansas with her long time partner, Marvin Branch, and would love to listen to the frogs in the evenings.
Cricket was proceeded in death by her father, James Wadley, and brother, Randy Wadley
Cricket is survived by her mother; Frances Wadley, siblings; James (Jimmy) Wadley, Brian Wadley, Michael Wadley, nieces and nephews; James Wadley, Lauren Wadley, Bryce Wadley, Mitchel Wadley, Klarayln Wadley, and Boden Wadley.
Please join us for a celebration of Cricket’s life with a viewing/visitation on Friday June 27 at 5:00 pm located at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS 66604 and a celebration on Saturday June 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 3611 SW Jewell Ave, Topeka, KS 66604.
Interment will follow the celebration services at Prairie Home Cemetery, 5239 NW 35th St. Topeka, KS 66618.
